Future Production is proud to have delivered the innovative and highly capable horizontal pipe handling system FP CombiCat® for a Well Intervention and Plug & Abandonment (P&A) operative vessel. The FP CombiCat® is a 100% hands-free operated system which combines pipe handling crane, catwalk machine, stabbing and guide arm, all in one complete unit.
Delivered in 2017, the system remains a benchmark in offshore safety and efficiency, with continuous operation confirming its long-term reliability and performance.
Compact, Skiddable, and Highly Functional
The CombiCat® was designed to simplify rig-up, operation, and relocation while maintaining a high level of automation and safety. It features an automatic yoke leveling system, operating both vertically and horizontally, controlled directly from the driller’s cabin or via wireless radio control, enabling smooth, precise, and safe operations.
Key integrated functionalities:
-
Pipe handling crane
-
Catwalk machine
-
Stabbing and guide arm
This modular, all-in-one configuration eliminates the need for multiple standalone systems, dramatically reducing installation time and complexity. The complete unit can be lifted into position, hinged onto the drill floor, and bolted down at the rear end of the pipe deck within minimal time.

Designed for Flexibility and Mobility
To enable rapid installation and relocation, the FP CombiCat® is equipped with one hydraulic and one electrical connection, located conveniently beneath the catwalk near the drill floor. For enhanced mobility, optional quick-connect plugs can be supplied based on client requirements.
When deck space is needed for other purposes, the CombiCat® can easily be lifted and stored temporarily using the rig crane — a unique advantage for offshore units where deck space is at a premium.
